First Aid at Work Course for Designated First Aiders(DFAs)
This training aims to strengthen the HSE profiles of companies, organizations and institutions by the grassroots provision of first aid coverage by trained employees who act in the most critical few minutes following fatal emergencies in operations or during sudden illness before the arrival of the Occupational Health Nurse or medics. In the tier structure of medical emergency response(MER), the DFA must commence diagnosis and treatment of the casualty within four(4) minutes of occurrence of emergency hence the need for management to increase the DFA density among their employees.
The training imbues the participants with the skill and knowledge to render Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to casualty and use the Automated External Defibrillator(AED) where available. This 5 day certificate course includes theories, practical sessions, simulations, experience sharing etc in so many topics including: Tier-structure of Medical Emergency Response,Handling mass casualty situations, unconsciousness:causes, diagnosis(using DR CAB) and treatment, use of AED, manual handling and transportations, choking, bleeding, injuries to bones, joints and connective tissues etc.
