Permit to Work(PTW) Systems

Course Overview

The Permit To Work (PTW) procedure is a well-proven method which predetermines the work to be done, analyses the hazards and controls that have to be implemented.
This PTW course involves a combination of theory and practical application, including worksite inspection, isolation requirements and permit auditing procedures within the workplace.

Course Aim

The learning outcomes of the training provide an understanding of the benefits of PTW, the essential features of the system, the mechanics of implementing the system and monitoring its effectiveness.
There are two specific training programmes covering the individual roles of Permit Issuer and Permit Receiver.

Course Duration: Permit Receiver - One Day (8 hours)
Permit Issuer-One Day (8 hours)
Unit Standard: Unit 175881: Apply for, accept, and carry out work according to a work permit in the workplace
Level: 3 Credits: 4
Unit 175901: Issue worksite specific work permits. Level: 3 Credits: 6
Attendance Pre-requisites: Hazard Identification is strongly recommended
For Permit Issuer, students must have completed the Permit Receiver course
Assessment Methods: Written/Oral quiz, practical simulations and assessments
Permit Issuers will receive a post-training assignment that is to be completed within 1 months of course completion
Safety Requirements: Comply with site safety requirements
